Cultivating Youth-Adult Relationships That Make a Difference
Thursday, August 22, 2019th, 6:30pm
DHS Performing Arts Center
310 North McDonough Street, Decatur, Georgia 30030
Introduction By >
David Dude, PhD
Superintendent
City Schools of Decatur
Welcome, Dr. Dude!
Dr. Dude will kick off the evening with a brief update on school climate, aka the GA Student Health Survey. He'll tell us where our City Schools land in the results matrix, share his insights, and his vision for our school system, our youth.
Many of you attended the Decatur Parents Network April 2019 event when Jessica Andrews-Wilson presented the 40 Developmental Assets for Adolescents identified by the Search Institute. Research confirms the presence of these assets in the lives of our youth propels them toward good health, caring, and responsibility, the success formula for life.
Most foundational to the 40 Developmental Assets is the nature of our relationships with our kids.

In this presentation, Jessica will explore the five core features of quality youth/adult relationships, two-way connections. These relationships contain expressions of care, challenging and supporting each other, sharing power, and expanding everyone's possibilities.
When we consciously and consistently incorporate these core elements into our relationships with youth, we nurture their resilience and facilitate a future of success and satisfaction.
Let's learn how we can do this together.
This complimentary presentation is sponsored by
